Our Ivybridge plant which has been the the home of Bandvulc tyres for over 50 years, has been rebranded as a Continental LifeCycle production facility, with new signage installed throughout February. The move sees the factory become more closely aligned to Continental’s Stöcken LifeCycle plant, which produces hot-retread tyres. Data collected by our parent company, Continental Tyres has revealed that approximately one in every five truck tyres is found to be operating outside of the correct tyre pressure window. The statistic, based on anonymised results from tyre inspections undertaken by Conti360° Solutions service providers, reinforces the need for operators to routinely check their tyre pressures to maximise the safety and the longevity of their rubber. Conti360° Fleet Services celebrated the official opening of its newly rebranded suite of offices on the 12th December, following a 2-year integration project to bring everything under one roof at Bandvulc’s Lee Mill site. Scottish haulier, Smith of Denny, had the opportunity to trial the new Continental Tyres ContiConnect portal and Yard Reader Station ahead of its introduction to the UK market. The system, which has now been launched, automatically reads and logs tyre pressures and temperature from all trucks and trailers leaving and entering an operator’s yard. Smith’s director, Andrew Smith, says the system provided utmost accuracy on the company's 26 trucks and 50 trailers, and helped reduce truck downtime. The integration of Devon company Bandvulc, the UK’s largest truck tyre retreader, and innovative brand leader Continental less than a year ago is already delivering results, according to Managing Director Patrick O’Connell.
