Devon-based Bandvulc has become the exclusive and sole supplier of the Uniroyal truck tyre brand across the UK.
The accolade emerges from the acquisition of the Ivybridge-based company by Continental AG in July 2016, a move which strengthens Continental’s position in the UK market. Bandvulc’s fleet maintenance division is already servicing 70% of the country’s supermarket fleet and their factory is producing more than 4,000 tyres a week.
Investment and innovation has led to the development of a new generation of tyres under the Uniroyal brand which offer increased mileage, wet performance and reduced rolling resistance over the predecessors. They are designed to meet the modern day needs of the transport companies and provide consistent performance and safety for regional applications and long-distance routes.
Patrick O’Connell, Managing Director of Bandvulc Group says the partnership with Continental has opened up a number of new opportunities. “Uniroyal has a strong heritage and a great range of tyres with proven performance. It makes a lot of sense for the Group to distribute, manage and control the supply of Uniroyal in the UK, especially as we have established distribution operations across the UK.”
The company has also started to specify and fit Uniroyal tyres to the existing fleet portfolio managed through Bandvulc Plus+, the fleet management arm of the company. “It makes sense for our business to utilise in-house products and services, the Uniroyal brand supports this activity”, adds Phil West, Group Commercial Director for Bandvulc.
